Eastern Publishers was established in 1991 by a family of pharmacists led by D.P.S. Kohli, who graduated in pharmacy in 1954. From 1955 to 1978, Mr. D.P.S. Kohli was engaged in manufacturing and management of pharmaceuticals and thereafter he worked as a consultant, having provided consultancy to over 50 manufacturing units till 1991.

In 1991 he wrote a book titled Drug Formulations Manual based on his shop floor experience of Manufacturing drug formulations. This was the first book published by Eastern Publishers which created a history of being exported to over 75 countries. With this modest beginning, Eastern Publishers have come a long way in establishing its name as the only publisher exclusively engaged in publishing of books for the Pharmaceutical industry in India.

Eastern Publishers have also taken up distribution of carefully selected books of practical use to the Pharmaceutical industry, in order to offer a wider range of books on drug formulations, herbal medicines, quality control and related subjects.
